L’Oréal partners with Albéa to launch paper based tubes

L’Oréal’s brand La Roche-Posay Anthelios suncare is the first product to be sold in paper tubes. It was last year that the French major and Albéa had announced the development of what they called “a breakthrough innovation for cosmetic packaging. They invented “the first carton-based cosmetic tube, where plastic is for the most part replaced with a bio-based and certified paper-like material.” L’Oréal will replace the majority of the plastic currently used in their tubes with this breakthrough innovation. The carton like FSC certified cardboard tube reduces the amount of plastic used by 45% compared to existing solutions. The balance plastic ,required to maintain the integrity of the formula and to ensure the tube is water-resistant can be recycled along with paper.
