Estee Lauder to start manufacturing in India

Estee Lauder that has been in India for close to 20 years will soon start manufacturing in India , according to the company’s Executive Group President Stephane De La Faverie . In an interview given to ET , he said Nykaa triggered the explosion of Beauty and skin care brands in India by fast tracking and expanding distribution manifold across the country. The segment also got a good push during the pandemic when consumers conducted a lot of deep research on beauty and Wellness.

Estee Lauder, the second largest cosmetic company in the world after loreal owns brands such as MAC, Bobby Brown and Clinique. It will be piloting local manufacturing with a partner in India. The company has created a series of smaller sizes of makeup to attract more consumers at more affordable prices ensuring different price points for different consumers. Min is will be launched only for India.

The company acquired a minority 20% stake in home grown beauty company Forest Essentials in 2008. The company also backs ‘New incubation Ventures’ a strategic early stage investment fund that invests in beauty business in partnership with Nykaa.
