L’Oréal raises India Stake with Major Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad
L’Oréal, the world’s largest cosmetics company, is set to establish one of its biggest Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in Hyderabad, underscoring India’s growing importance in the multinational’s global strategy. The new hub will spearhead technology, innovation, and research mandates for the French beauty giant, distinct from its existing research facilities in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The GCC will serve as a strategic operations and digital transformation hub, supporting global IT systems, AI-driven analytics, supply chain optimization, and enterprise functions. L’Oréal has already begun scouting senior leadership talent, including candidates from its Paris headquarters, to anchor the Hyderabad centre.
This expansion comes at a time when Hyderabad has emerged as one of the fastest-growing GCC destinations worldwide, adding over 70 in 2025 alone, including hubs for Fortune 500 companies such as Netflix, Eli Lilly, Costco, and McDonald’s. The city now hosts more than 400 GCCs across technology, pharmaceuticals, retail, and financial services, making it a magnet for global enterprises.
For L’Oréal, the move signals a deepening commitment to India, with ambitions to make the country one of its top ten markets globally. The Hyderabad GCC will not only strengthen L’Oréal’s global innovation pipeline but also create new opportunities for India’s skilled workforce, reinforcing the nation’s role as a hub for enterprise capability building.
Industry experts view this as a strategic milestone, positioning L’Oréal to leverage India’s talent pool and digital ecosystem while intensifying competition among consumer multinationals investing in GCCs.
