Lush Launches New Collection Inspired by rival The Body Shop

Lush has unveiled a new collection inspired by the best-selling products of its high street rival, The Body Shop. The beauty brand has reformulated 12 of The Body Shop’s iconic items across hair, body, and skin care, presenting them in a collection called “The Lush Version.”

Described as a “fresh take on old friends and Body Shop classics,” the launch comes at a pivotal time for The Body Shop, which was recently rescued from administration by Auréa, an investment company led by retail tycoon Mike Jatania. The Body Shop had faced significant challenges, culminating in its UK business entering administration in February 2024.

Lush co-founder Mark Constantine, who has a long-standing relationship with The Body Shop, said the collection is a “tribute to the hippy path we forged decades ago.” Constantine began his career as a supplier to The Body Shop with his previous business, Constantine & Weir, which specialized in herbal beauty formulations and treatments. He collaborated with The Body Shop’s founder, Anita Roddick, on several formulations that became best-sellers, including The Henna Shampoo.

Reflecting on their shared history, Lush stated, “Back in the day, the founders of Lush ran a business providing R&D, manufacturing, training, and campaign support to The Body Shop and others.”
