BASF's Sustainable HDO Intermediate Receives Carbon Trust Verification

BASF has achieved a significant milestone in sustainability with the Carbon Trust verifying that its 1,6-hexanediol (HDO), along with formic acid (FA), propionic acid (PA), and neopentyl glycol (NPG), have a lower carbon footprint compared to fossil-based equivalents. This verification, valid until May 2026, underscores BASF’s commitment to supporting its customers’ green transformation efforts1.

The Carbon Trust’s independent verification highlights BASF’s efforts in reducing the environmental impact of its products, making them a more sustainable choice for the cosmetics industry. This development is expected to drive further innovation and adoption of eco-friendly practices within the sector.
