Dr. Muhammed Majeed, a visionary leader and the founder and chairman of the esteemed Sami-Sabinsa Group, has peacefully passed away, surrounded by his loved ones, after complications from surgery. His remarkable legacy, spanning over 45 years of dedicated service to the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic industries, leaves an indelible mark on the world.

Born and raised in Kerala, Dr. Majeed’s journey was one of relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation. Graduating from Kerala University in the pharmaceutical field, he furthered his studies in the United States, obtaining a master’s degree from Long Island University and a doctorate from St. John’s University, specializing in industrial pharmacy.

Dr. Majeed’s illustrious career included pivotal roles at Pfizer Inc., Carter-Wallace, and Paco Research before he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey. In 1988, he founded Sabinsa Corp., a research-oriented pharmaceutical and nutraceutical marketing company, setting the stage for groundbreaking advancements in the industry.

In 1991, Dr. Majeed established Sami Labs Ltd. in Bangalore, India, integrating manufacturing, global marketing of nutraceuticals, and cutting-edge research. His dedication to merging technology with traditional Ayurvedic principles revolutionized the healthcare landscape. Through his unwavering efforts, he introduced Ayurveda to the American market, advocating for its recognition as evidence-based, complementary, and integrated medicine.

As Dr. Majeed’s daughter, Anju Majeed, Ph.D., steps into the role of chairperson of the Sami-Sabinsa Group, she carries forward her father’s vision and legacy of innovation and excellence.
