L’Oréal Researchers Shine at IFSCC 2024

L’Oréal showcased its dedication to cosmetic research at the IFSCC 2024 Congress in Brazil, with a team of 20 researchers presenting innovations across photoprotection, pigmentation, microbiome, hair, makeup, cognitive sciences, and sustainable innovation. The team delivered two keynotes, hosted a workshop, made six oral presentations, and displayed 31 posters.

Two oral presentations from L’Oréal’s R&D team received accolades in the basic research category. These presentations highlighted a new formula with Melasyl for addressing pigmentary disorders in all skin tones and a commitment to sustainability through a field cultivation index.

In a standout moment, Fumiyoshi Ikkai’s presentation on “Red-Light Reflection of Ultramarine Blue: Impact on Skin-Enhancing Effect When Used in Cosmetics” won the best oral presentation in applied research. Ikkai’s study demonstrated that ultramarine blue, derived from abundant minerals, enhances skin appearance by reflecting red light. When integrated into foundations, it offers a more uniform and luminous complexion, rivaling or surpassing traditional black iron oxides.

L’Oréal’s participation at the IFSCC 2024 underscores its leading role in advancing cosmetic science and promoting knowledge sharing within the beauty industry.
