L’Oréal Sells Spa brand Decléor and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc to Cospal
L’Oréal has sold its skincare brands Decléor and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc to a newly-formed French brand builder, Cospal, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is part of L’Oréal’s strategy to rationalize its brand portfolio and focus on its core brands.
Cospal, founded in 2024 by Matthieu Lesieur, aims to expand its presence in the beauty and wellness market. Lesieur’s family has historical ties to Decléor, with his father acquiring the brand in 1989 before selling it to Shiseido. Decléor, known for its aromatherapy and essential oils, became a staple in luxury spas worldwide.
The acquisition includes Decléor’s European dermatological spa center, which attracts over 100,000 visitors annually, and the license for the Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc skincare brand. Lesieur stated that rejuvenating these iconic brands is a unique opportunity to preserve their heritage while infusing them with innovation-driven impetus2.
This move by L’Oréal underscores its commitment to streamlining its brand portfolio and focusing on its strategic priorities. Meanwhile, Cospal aims to build a portfolio of beauty and wellness brands, leveraging the legacy and potential of Decléor and Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc.
