Donkey milk for skincare

As reported by a leading news channel, the National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE) will soon start a Donkey milk dairy in Haryana’s Hisar and for this, it has ordered 10 Halari breed donkeys. Halari breed of donkeys is found in Gujarat and its milk is considered valuable for its properties. Donkey milk reportedly has the ability to fight diseases like cancer, obesity and allergies, besides being an immunity booster. Since donkey’s milk contains antioxidants and anti-ageing elements, it is also used to make premium skincare products including lotions, balms and soaps. It is said that Egyptian queen Cleopatra, known for her glowing skin, bathed in donkey’s milk infused with rose petals. Just last year, soaps made of donkey’s milk launched by Organiko, a Delhi-based start-up, was the star attraction at the Women of India Organic Festival held at Chandigarh. Organiko has collaborated with 10 families who own 25 donkeys at Dasna in Ghaziabad to manufacture these soaps.
