BASF India, Somaiya Vidyavihar, and ICC Celebrate We-Chemie Success

BASF, Somaiya Vidyavihar, and the Indian Chemical Council (ICC) come together to celebrate the success of the inaugural batch of the We-Chemie program. Designed to empower women in chemistry, the initiative targets final-year BSc and MSc students from underprivileged backgrounds. With less than 30% representation of women in the global chemical sector, BASF leads this CSR effort to bridge the gender gap. We-Chemie aims to equip female graduates with the skills and mindset for fulfilling careers in the industry, blending training with industry visits, mentorship, and self-development programs. The ceremony saw over 40 students from Maharashtra receiving certificates, marking the beginning of their promising careers. Mr. Alexander Gerding, Managing Director of BASF India Limited, emphasized their commitment to diversity and empowerment. Mr. Samir Somaiya, President of Somaiya Vidyavihar, hailed the program as a milestone towards inclusivity and excellence. Sothi Selvam, Director General of the Indian Chemical Council, expressed delight in the partnership and affirmed their dedication to fostering industry-academia collaboration for enhanced employability.
