FMCG Industry loses Sunder Mahadevan
Dr Sunder Mahadevan, Head of R&D – Godrej Consumer Products succumbed to cancer recently. In a moving tribute to the ‘crazy one’, Nisaba Godrej wrote in a LinkedIn post quoting from an Apple Ad- Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward.”. “We lost our crazy, glorious Dr Sunder a month ago to cancer. As head of R&D, he demanded we be disruptive and climb difficult mountains. His biggest legacy at Godrej Consumer Products Limited is not the products he created but the wonderful team he nurtured and pushed forward. We will miss him terribly and he will live on in us.” At an online memorial for him, his colleagues shared funny, amazing and loving stories with each other and his family for many hours. Notable was the poem ‘Woh to tha Albela’ by his colleague, the CEO of the company, Sunil Kataria.
