Unilever to boycott advertising on FB

An advertiser boycott of Facebook is picking up fast and multinational Unilever among its participants. The others include, Verizon, Starbucks and Diageo. These advertisers spend a humongous amount on the social networking platform. Many others have followed these advertisers. While some have not been releasing ads in FB for a month, some have put their on an indefinite pause. Similarly some have pulled out only from FB, but some from Twitter and YouTube as well. These companies are pulling out ads in protest  over how the social media giant handles hate speech and other harmful content. FB boasts of 8 million users and has earned $69.7 billion in ad revenue globally last year.
