Survey says Consumers wish to avoid Talc in Skincare

Ingredion proprietary consumer research, conducted in 11 countries reveals that, after price, ingredients are the most important criteria when selecting skincare products. The research says although Talc is one ingredient that consumers were indeed familiar with, they wanted to avoid in their skincare.

Talc is used in personal care from makeup to skincare to baby products. But more recently, Talc-based products have been under consumer scrutiny for potential safety concerns. Researchers say that global launches of talc-based products have decreased by more than 50% from 2016 to 2019 highlighting rising consumer preference for products containing plant-based Talc alternatives such as Corn, Rice and Tapioca starches.
